About This Project

Client: Georgiou Brady Marine & Civil Joint Venture
Location: Indooroopilly, QLD

INTRODUCTION:

The Indooroopilly Riverwalk project was initiated by the Brisbane City Council to provide quick and safe travel options for residents and visitors. The project aimed to improve active transport, providing a safe and accessible route, with an outlook over the Brisbane River. The project required the construction of a 790-meter-long bridge with a separated two-way cyclist and pedestrian path. Kenro Metal was contracted by Georgiou Brady Marine & Civil JV to supply and install the steelwork package for the project. This case study describes Kenro’s contribution to the project.

PROJECT SCOPE:

The Indooroopilly Riverwalk project required the fabrication and installation of 1,580m of galvanized pedestrian balustrading, lamp post brackets, and cover plates. Kenro Metal was responsible for supplying and installing over 100 tonnes of steel, including 690 posts, panels, and 350 lengths of handrail. The steelwork package was a critical component of the project, providing support, safety, and aesthetics to the riverwalk.

KENRO’s APPROACH:

Kenro Metal took a systematic approach to the project, beginning with an in-depth analysis of the project requirements, timeline, and budget. The team worked closely with Georgiou Brady Marine & Civil JV to develop a detailed design and construction plan. Kenro’s experienced engineers and fabricators leveraged their knowledge of steelwork to develop a comprehensive plan that met the project’s technical requirements while staying within budget.

Kenro Metal’s expertise in steel fabrication allowed them to identify potential issues and develop innovative solutions. For example, the team designed custom-made clamps to attach the balustrades to the bridge structure, ensuring a secure and long-lasting installation. Additionally, the team devised a custom galvanizing process to ensure the steelwork package’s longevity.

INSTALLATION & DELIVERY

Kenro’s team worked closely with Georgiou Brady Marine & Civil JV to ensure that the steelwork package was delivered on time and within budget. The installation process was carried out in phases to minimize disruption to the ongoing construction of the riverwalk. Kenro’s installation team worked efficiently and safely, completing the project on time and to the highest quality standards.

CONCLUSION

Kenro Metal’s contribution to the Indooroopilly Riverwalk project played a vital role in delivering a safe and accessible transport option for Brisbane’s residents and visitors. The steelwork package provided support, safety, and aesthetics to the riverwalk, contributing to the project’s success. Kenro’s expertise in steel fabrication and installation allowed them to deliver a high-quality project on time and within budget. The successful completion of the project demonstrated Kenro’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
